HISTORY

Atlanta-native professional golfer, Dara Broadus is a veteran of the LPGA FUTURES Tour. After an illustrious junior career, Broadus earned the Betsy King Golf Scholarship to attend the golf-acclaimed Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. There, she played her way to several top finishes including a top ten finish at the Southern Conference Championship. She also helped lead her team to a region championship. In 1999, Broadus joined an elite group as one of only five African American women to qualify for the U.S. Women's Amateur. Upon graduating, Broadus gained full exempt status for the FUTURES Tour, the official minitour of the LPGA. With initial sponsorship from Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Dara finished on the money list during her first year as a professional.

Dara has been featured in Pete McDaniel's Uneven Lies as well as Black Enterprise Magazine, Crisis Magazine and many other publications and television outlets. In 2003, Broadus founded the Dara Broadus Corporation which serves as the umbrella for her professional career as well as her Atlanta- and Jacksonville, FL- based teaching academies which she operates with PGA Teaching Professional and brother, Battiste Broadus. Recently, Dara and Battiste have launched www.fromthetee.com, an interactive golf website to facilitate their efforts in the golf community.

Master Instructor, Battiste is the director of the Jacksonville, Florida branch of the Dara Broadus Corporation Golf Academy.  A graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, B.J. was a member of the acclaimed 2001 National Championship golf team.  Upon graduating, B.J. was employed as an engineer while continuing his interest in golf.  Since then, he has accumulated several local amateur titles, a teaching certification from the United States Golf Association and spent countless hours instructing golfers of various ages.  In 2004, B.J. became a member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America Class A Teaching Division.  As an apprentice, he worked at the First Tee of North Jacksonville were he instructed and helped with the daily operations of the facility.
